The monkeys stole the blood samples of Covid 19 patients from a lab technician in India

In India, a group of monkeys attacked a medical officer and snatched blood samples from patients who had tested positive for the novel coronavirus, officials said Friday.

The attack took place this week as a laboratory technician was operating on the campus of a government medical college in Meerut, 460 km north of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.

Dr. SK Garg, a senior official of the college, said, "The monkey escaped with blood samples from four Covid 19 patients who are undergoing treatment. We had to take their blood samples again." "

Authorities say they are not clear if the monkeys spread the blood samples, but people living near the address campus fear that if the samples were delivered to residential areas, the virus could spread further.

Garg said it was unclear if the monkeys could contract the corona virus if they came in contact with infected blood.
