CM Sindh asks KU lab officials to expedite DNA tests of plane crash victims
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Thursday visited the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Laboratory at Karachi University and asked the lab administration to expedite the DNA tests of passengers killed in the May 22 plane crash. ۔
He said, "The relatives of the passengers who died in the plane crash [who] are deeply saddened that they have not only lost their relatives, but now they have identified them to pay their last respects to their bodies. This pain will continue to pierce their hearts for the rest of their lives, but we can alleviate it by handing over the bodies only after identifying them through DNA tests.
Briefing the Chief Minister, the lab in-charge said that out of 97 bodies, 50 have been identified and handed over to their heirs.
He added that at that time, 29 bodies were lying in Edhi's mortuary and 18 in Chappa.

The Chief Minister was informed that the 12 victims identified through DNA included Yasmeen, Ataullah, Shahnaz, Khalida, Khalid Sherdal, Saad Mahmood, Usman and Surya.
He was further informed that three other bodies identified through DNA have also been handed over to their respective families, while two DNA news items have been released due to tagging issue.
The Chief Minister directed the district administration to resolve the issue and identify the bodies so that they could be handed over to their families. The Chief Minister lauded the tireless work and dedication of the lab staff, technicians and management so that the affected families could identify their loved ones.
